British Airways Unveils New Cabin Designs for Its Airbus A380 Fleet

UK flag carrier British Airways (BA) has announced details of a comprehensive cabin retrofit program covering all four classes on its Airbus A380 fleet. Under the new layout, the entire upper deck is dedicated to 106 Club Suite business class seats. The first retrofitted aircraft is scheduled to enter commercial service in the coming months.
According to the newly announced configuration, the A380s will feature a total of 417 seats: 12 in First, 106 in Club World (Business), 84 in World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy), and 215 in World Traveller (Economy). Compared to the current 469-seat configuration, total capacity is reduced by approximately 11% (52 seats), with premium cabins making up nearly half of the aircraft’s capacity (202 seats).

With the entire upper deck allocated to Club World, First, World Traveller Plus, and World Traveller cabins will be positioned on the main deck. The retrofit process involves installing over 35,000 individual parts per aircraft, including galleys, stair structures, and interior fittings.
Cabin Upgrades
• Club Suite: Features additional storage and updated trim in blue, red, and cream tones. The upper deck will be partitioned into four distinct zones, complete with Club Kitchen self-service areas and dedicated space to step away from the seat.
• First: Center seats allow traveling companions to lower the privacy divider, creating a shared dining space with stowable tables. Each suite also includes a personal minibar stocked with snacks and water options.
• World Traveller Plus & Economy: Premium economy seats will feature winged headrests for enhanced privacy and larger in-flight entertainment screens, while economy class receives larger screens alongside wider seat profiles.

The airline rolled out its updated First dining menu and bedding on October 1 across long-haul departures from London Heathrow, alongside the distribution of new amenity kits. Beginning in November, updated bedding and amenity kits will be introduced in phases across economy and premium economy cabins fleet-wide. The specific inaugural flight date and route network schedule for the retrofitted A380s are expected to be announced at a later stage.
